Ian O’Neill is a Kansas City-based New Media artist using Video Art techniques to explore self-image, human experiences, and the relationship between digital and physical realities. Ian’s work has been featured in the University of Missouri’s Visual Art and Design Showcase, the Charlotte Street Foundation’s ProdoLab series, and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. Ian is often a visual collaborator with music performers as a means to capture the beauty in performance.

"Untitled 001"
New York City Electro-acoustic Music Festival : June 2023
In collaboration with Seth Andrew Davis, "Untitled 001" is the first in the "Untitled" series. The goal of the series is to allow performance to be visually captured by creative code. The show at NYCEMF saw Seth, an improv guitarist, create a 1-of-1 audio-reactive painting.
Charolette Street Foundation: August 2022
ProdoLAB is a monthly experimental platform that pairs Kansas City time-based artists, producers, and musicians to collaborate on a new piece. Artists showcase their work in an immersive, hour-long performance at Charlotte Street.
The August 2022 edition was immersive fixed-video by Ian O'Neill paired with sounds from Dom Chronicles project "Still Learning" to create a unique blend of visuals and music.

Cybersyn is a music work composed by Seth Andrew Davis for improvised music, electronics and video.
The goal of Cybersyn was to blend the world of improv music and electronics into a truly unique experience for every iteration. The video is no different as the backdrop for the performance is manipulated webcam of the space. The distorted signals are improved just as the performers and audience is, all culminating in an unique experience for each viewing.

Northwestern University Senior Recital
May 2022
(MISS)remember is a commissioned work by Oswald Huỳnh for Saxophone and Fixed Video. The work premiered as part of the senior recital for Leo Schlaifer at Northwestern University.
The video explores the feelings of nostalgia and grief through re-appropriation of public domain home video. the distorted imagery works to invoke a sense of djeja vu.
The footage is intimate home video of random lives, yet your brain seeks to connect these worlds together.

Image.RGB is an interactive media installation for CRT televisions. The work was selected for the 2021 Visual Arts and Design Showcase at the University of Missouri.
The work is a visual sculpture. A webcam is processed through a Max MSP Patch and projected on to 3 CRT TVs. The goal of the project was to display the human image as a series of bits, the same way that all social media and digital universe operate.
