ProdoLAB is a monthly experimental platform that pairs Kansas City time-based artists, producers, and musicians to collaborate on a new piece. Artists showcase their work in an immersive, hour-long performance at Charlotte Street.

The August 2022 edition was immersive fixed-video by Ian O'Neill paired with sounds from Dom Chronicles project "Still Learning" to create a unique blend of visuals and music. Scotty Wu provided the track as DJ for the evening.

My goal with this project was to incorporate multiple ideas of learning. The TV on stage showcased re-appropriated video art from children's educational programming. The main projection was various media re-appropriated and run through Max MSP processing to create an abstract quest for knowledge. Each song on the setlist had a visual pair. The lyrics led to be interpreted by the various forms of mixed media found throughout the mid-century.

This is a project where I found a love for archival and ephemeral video. Past media is incredibly valuable in generating new ideas. It is the patchwork that when woven together I find it to be very surreal and warm. You may have never seen these videos before, but when placed in new context they become fimilar and help translate new ideas.
