Cybersyn is a music series and research project composed by Seth Andrew Davis for improvised music, electronics and video.

The goal of Cybersyn was to blend the world of improv music and electronics into a truly unique experience for every iteration. The video is no different as the backdrop for the performance is manipulated webcam of the space. The distorted signals are improved just as the performers and audience is, all culminating in an unique experience for each viewing.

The visual work is a custom Max MSP project. The camera feed of the performance is routed through a series of digital distortion and projected behind the performers. The feedback loop creates a look of digital surrealism where the visuals are also reactive to the digital environment and physical space simultaneously, same as the performers and effects.

 

This has been really great learning opportunity and fun project to grow with . A big thank you to Seth, all the performers involved, the Charolette Street Foundation and Stray Cat Film Center. There will be more with this project in the future
